A fascinating full day tour !
An ideal introduction to the history of Impressionism, while discovering one of the most beautiful and authentic villages of France, in close proximity to Paris.
I will introduce you to the origin of the impressionism mouvement of art.
Who started it?
Why did they decide to move out of Paris?
Why did they choose to paint their subjects?
Why did they return to painting nature?
We will visit the Auberge Ravoux. This is the house where Van Gogh spent his last days and produced some of his greatest works. The innkeeper renovated the place and turned it into a cultural center and re-created the modest
atmosphere as Van Gogh might have known it. Even the hand blown decanters and glasses were copied from Van Gogh's painting "the Absinthe Drinkers."
We'll visit the painter's small bedroom with its tiny skylight, then view a nice video on Vincent's life. In his room, everything is as it was "even the cracks in the wall have been preserved".
Nearby, view the church that Van Gogh immortalized in one of his paintings - The Painting is in the Museum d'Orsay!
I suggest that we dine where Vincent dined long ago, in the auberge Ravoux. Remember that Van Gogh once said, "one day I think I will find a way
to have my own show in a café."
This great artist only sold one painting in his lifetime, yet today his works are in every major museum and are greatly treasured by the world.
After our time in Auvers-sur-Oise, we are off to Chantilly Château.
"BREATHTAKING" aptly describes your first glimpse of this enchanting castle!
An impressive site surrounded by lush green forests, Chantilly Château is truly a "receptacle of the arts." The Museum inside, is the most important collection of great works of art after the Louvre museum ; the castle in itself is a jewel. It is one of the most prestigious sites in France combining art and culture.
I will guide you through this incredible castle for an extraordinary experience. The chateau contains exquisite furniture as well as famous treasures.
