Musée des Arts Forains
A museum of open arts is built on the initiative of a Parisian ethnologist, who knew to convince the former Mayor to launch an operation of great architectural quality. This equipment is disputed by the local population, which does not feel the principal recipient of the operation. At the same time with the operation of construction of the museum, communal cultural equipment is created: it accomodates the new library and a room of music. These two pieces of equipment are integrated with much care in old buildings (barns), a little with the variation of the principal axis of the commune, and are surrounded by a public space of quality.
In a very vast space of exposure of Bercy, this museum with the magic charm presents original models of open attractions. Horse-gears out of wooden, automats, shooting ranges, hutments reconstituted, theatres of Puppet… are gathered in an evocation of the world of the fun fair at the end of the XIXe century. A superb collection of animals of Carrousel and an Anatomical Wax Museum (the Museum of the Horrors) point out the two emotions sought by the public of the fun fairs of formerly and today: the laughter and the shiver.
