Maillol Museum

Dina Vierny, who was the last model of Aristide Maillol (1861-1944), opened his foundation in 1995 in a superb private mansion of the street of Grenelle (where Alfred de Musset lived about 1825) having for frontage the “Fountain-of-Four-Seasons” of Bouchardon (about 1745). On three levels, all the work of Maillol is represented: drawings, paintings, tapestries, objets d'art… as well as a single whole of famous sculptures: “The Mediterranean”, “Pomone”, “the River”… From the first works to last creations, it is all the career of the one of the major artists of the years 1885-1940 which the visitor can thus discover. At the sides of Maillol an important collection of works of artists close to him is exposed (Gauguin, Redon, Denis, Rodin…) as well as creations of painters and sculptors that Dina Vierny exposed in his art gallery of the street Jacob: Duchamp, Kandinsky, Matisse, Poliakoff, Russian Avant-garde and Naïve painters.
